Pound Heritage Days Thank You
The Pound Heritage Days Committee wishes to once again thank the businesses and individuals who made donations or reduced costs of any kind that helped us with our Heritage Days festival. Thanks to Don’s Auto for helping us to update our advertisement signs and Innovative Graphics for creating Kids Night Talent Show prizes.  Thanks to Eddie Meade for his farm tractor, William and P.J. Meade as additional drivers, Treavor Boggs for his trailer, and Clintwood Farm Supply for providing bundles of straw for the hayrides.  Thanks to the Pound Lion’s Club for the use of their dunking booth, food, and inflatable they provided for Kid’s Night.  Thanks to the Pound Fire Department and Rescue Squad for the “jaws of life” demonstration.  Thanks to the Pound VFW Post 9600 for their memorial ceremony and the Pound Police Department for traffic control.  Thanks to Tim McAfee, Chuck Slemp, and Phil Cantrell Sr. for their taunting from the dunking booth seat while many folks stood in line and paid to put cold water on their jeering.  Thanks to Greg Cross and his team for supplying the trash barrels and the paint that resulted in a “colorful” fun time for the Pre-K kids, and a clean environment for our festival.  Thanks to the vendors who were here to provide those fun foods we all like as well as those vendors who provided wares from our local culture.  Thanks to Buggy Bath for use of their grassed area for several contests. Thanks to The Historical Society of the Pound for spearheading our heritage remembrances and the local businesses who allowed their windows to be covered with memorabilia.  Thanks to Danny Short for hosting a great cruise-in.  Thanks to the church singers who made Gospel Song Night a success and Pickin In The Pound for being a part of our heritage.  Thanks to Gary Varner, Rod Mullins and Strawberry Jam for memorable stories of Pound’s past.  Thanks to Hamilton Construction Company for the bicycles and sports equipment donated for contest prizes and raffling.  We thank Eugene Mullins for his magical entertainment, Southwest Tool Rental for the high lift, tent, and chairs, and Danny Hackney of South Mountain Boys for a spectacular sound system.  A special thank you to all the entertainers.  Tommie Short opened our musical show with several crowd pleasing country songs.  Johnny Cash was not there, but Drake Brock made you believe he was. Not only can Brittany Avery sing, she does an outstanding job of wading the creek collecting ducks from the duck race.  Local girl Reagan Boggs did a fantastic show closing out our festival on Saturday night.   Thanks to the Heritage Days Committee (led by Arvil Pilkenton) for their tireless efforts.  Finally, thank you to all others who helped in any way.
